26,000 PARTICIPANTS CONQUER THE CAPITAL’S RECORD-BREAKING CANCER RESEARCH UK LONDON WINTER RUN

A blizzard of superheroes, frozen festivities, and emotional stories as the UK’s biggest 10K takes the streets of London by storm.

London provided a characteristically wintry backdrop this morning as 26,000 runners took to the closed streets of the capital for the 2026 Cancer Research UK London Winter Run – the UK’s biggest 10K and one of the city’s most striking events on the sporting calendar.

Undeterred by the testing conditions, participants embraced the challenge with determination and positivity, demonstrating true resilience while raising funds for Cancer Research UK. From the high-energy start line in Trafalgar Square to a memorable finish beneath The Mall, entrants powered through the course with unwavering spirit.

The route remained packed with live entertainment, larger-than-life winter-themed characters and dedicated supporters who helped maintain a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere throughout the morning. The event became a powerful celebration of community, strength and hope, with runners pushing forward whether chasing personal bests or completing their very first 10K – all united by a shared mission to help beat cancer.

Adding to the inspirational occasion, Olympic legend Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards joined runners and supporters on the day, officially starting each wave, cheering participants across the finish line, and sharing his passion for perseverance – a message that perfectly reflected the spirit shown across the event.

This event is aiming to raise an incredible £1 million for Cancer Research UK, funding vital, life-saving research that helps improve treatments, support patients, and bring hope to those affected by cancer. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a meaningful role in supporting researchers, advancing early detection, and helping to save countless lives.

“Today has been a truly landmark moment in the history of the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run,” said Andrew Smith, CEO of ASO UK. “To see a record-breaking 26,000 people flood the streets of London with such incredible energy, despite the weather is a powerful testament to the unique spirit of this event.

The atmosphere has been electric from the very first ‘Snow Blast-Off’ at Trafalgar Square, and having Olympic legend Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards join us to inspire our entrants as they set off past the National Gallery made the day even more special.”

“This event has always been about more than just a 10K. It is a celebration of our community. Every participant who crossed the finish line today to claim their masterpiece medal has not only achieved something remarkable personally but has played a vital role in helping us stop cancer in its tracks by raising significant funds for life-saving research. We are immensely proud of every single person who braved the cold to make 2026 our biggest and best year yet.”

With its signature winter theme, iconic central London route, and an atmosphere that lifted spirits even on the wettest day in Winter Run history, the 2026 edition once again proved why the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run has become one of the capital’s most cherished mass participation events.
