“In 2004, I was diagnosed with breast cancer – I had to have surgery and radiotherapy followed by hormone therapy for five years. I’ve always been a keen runner, and this experience has encouraged me to take on a wide range of different challenges. I first took part in the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 10k in 2015 and it was great! It was a beautiful, cold sunny day and the best part was running past St Paul’s Cathedral, with the bells ringing for Sunday service. I managed to beat my fundraising target, raising £290 for Cancer Research UK to help fund life-saving research. Now, I’ll go for anything challenging, stepping outside of my comfort zone, because you never know what’s around the corner.”
Marie hasn’t stopped there, she’ll also be supporting Cancer Research UK for World Cancer Day 2020, and she’s inviting you to join her.
“I’m really excited to show my support for World Cancer Day by wearing a Unity Band®. It’s great that doing something so simple will help fund life-saving research.”
World Cancer Day is an international movement, uniting people around the world on 4 February to beat cancer. Like Marie, you can take action by getting a Unity Band® and donating to Cancer Research UK.
