Let them entertain you: meet Lizzie Haynes and Popchoir, performing uplifting tunes on your way to the finish line!
All hail Queen Lizzie!
Spectacular solo artist Lizzie Haynes is a big voice helping runners make a big difference at the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run. We caught up with the soulful singer – well known for her covers of acoustic melodies – about what she loves about the event and more.
You have performed at the LWR before – what attracts you to this event?
I love it! It is fantastic to be able to help and support a great cause, with cancer sadly touching every one of us nowadays. Anything I can do to help is an utter pleasure. Also, I know how hard it is to run a 10K and keep momentum going, so I love trying to help the runners get to the finish line!
Can you describe the atmosphere of the event in 3 words?
Fun, collaborative and energetic
What music will you be performing this year?
Lots of fun covers to get the runners singing and running along. You’ll hear the likes of my single Don’t Look Back in Anger (which can be found on all streaming platforms) to bangers like Three Lions and Queen songs.
What is one of your favourite tracks for running or working out?
Any really… although can I say my own? Joking – it’s Born to Run by B
ruce Springsteen. Obviously Don’t Look Back in Anger by Lizzie Haynes is a great cool down track though – I’ve actually stretched down to it at my spin classes and it works nicely!
What will you be working on this year, in relation to your music?
I have another new release coming out this year so keep your eyes and ears pealed. I also hope to get writing some originals.
Lizzie will be performing at Queen Street – Cheapside Junction – at the end. Make sure not to miss her!
Popchoir: the power of many voices
Popchoir and the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run have a lot in common. From spreading feel-good endorphins, inspiring teamwork, being partial to a cheeky dance and embracing things in life no matter our ability, it is only natural to team up for another year to bring runners uplifting entertainment en route on Sunday 5th February.
Popchoir, the hugely successful choir singing pop covers since 2008, will uplift runners at Cannon Street / New Change. Listen out for their upbeat covers of new and classic pop songs, and maybe even the odd medley mash-up if you’re lucky.
Thank you Popchoir for spreading such joy and positivity to others. Your sense of community and fun is magnificent to behold. And for any budding shower-singer in need of a new hobby for 2023… check out Popchoir to join audition-free!
